EVERYDAY BATTLES

Airplanes and helicopters shake my morning roof
The pounding in my late night eyes is the body's proof
The light fantastic's now an enemy within
I'm doing battle with the everyday again

Some symbiosis is not a short feet away
Often I wonder what it is that makes her stay
Will build a tower to the future we won't climb
And then the darkness wonder what we'll leave behind

If we aren't special then how do we make it through
Without the comfort of a big white lie or two
There is no notice when you're halfway to the end
No guarantee that gets better round the bend

Fumes of former glory like a cage we didn't build
And all the hours push us all over that hill
The fuse some run from others bathe in gasoline
The truth most times is all we are is stalling in between

I hope what you do to drive distraction is enough
I hope what you believe is more than just made up

The fight is epic full of saints and full of sin
I'm doing battle with the everyday again
Somehow by magic we get out of bed again
Another battle in a war we'll never win

It isn't tragic it's the paper cuts of life
Over the years or broken down by every slice
Airplanes and helicopters shake my morning roof
The pounding in my late night eyes is the body's proof

In the everyday again x2
